I bought this stone because the material is found locally. This particular stone was cut by a friend in Utah. Isn't it beautiful? Poppy is one of the more colorful jaspers. I've border-wrapped this stone in 21 gauge sterling wire and added my signature topper. A sturdy hidden bail will accommodate most chains. Enjoy! Note: Jasper was a favorite gem in ancient times and is referenced in Hebrew, Assyrian and Latin literature. It is a massive, fine-grained chalcedony and comes in all colors. The name jasper comes from the Greek and means "spotted stone." Morgan Hill poppy jasper comes, of course, from the locality of Morgan Hill, about thirty miles from my house.
