I bought this stone because of the exotic pink and grey coloring, but, truth to tell, I know nothing about the stone which I've chosen to call Chinese jasper because of the country of origin. It's a thick, ladder-shaped stone with beautiful marbling of sades of pink and grey. (Note: due to the less-than-ideal lighting when I photographed this stone, the picture shows the pink as more vivid than it actually is and the grey as more of a greenish color. It is not green but grey.) I've border-wrapped it in 21 gauge sterling wire and added a crown topper. A sturdy hidden bail will accommodate most chains. Enjoy! Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself. The pendant is 2 1/4" from bottom of stone to top of bail and is 1 1/8" wide. Note: Jasper was a favorite gem in ancient times and is referenced in Hebrew, Assyrian and Latin literature. It is a massive, fine-grained chalcedony and comes in all colors. The name jasper comes from the Greek and means "spotted stone." Enjoy this unique piece of hand-crafted jewelry.
