Here is a lovely chevron amethyst stone with a dark purple top and a lilac bottom divided by a bleeding band of white. This stone, cut and polished by John and Patty at Blue Heron Gems, sports a high luster domed top. To not overwhelm the rather delicate stone, I've border wrapped it with 22 gauge square sterling wire and topped it with delicate swirls and curls that hide a sturdy four-wire hidden bail. Note: Amethyst is a crystalline quartz occurring in shades of purple, lilac or mauve.
