This lovely piece of ocean jasper was cut by John and Patty of Blue Heron Gems. It has greens, pinks and a little white and three tiny drusy pockets. Really stunning. I've kept the border wrap simple--square sterling silver wire and a puffy tailored topper. Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself. The pendant measures 2 3/4" from top of bail and is 1 3/8" wide. Note: Ocean jasper has an interesting history. Ocean jasper from Madagascar is a relatively new material to appear on the market though its original discovery occured in 1922. Ocean jasper's distinctive orbicular patterns are made up of round or spherical inclusions of contrasting colors floating in solid jasper. The orbs can range in diameter from a millimeter to a centimeter, and frequently show a particularly dramatic concentric banding. How this jasper forms is still a scientific mystery.
