Whoa! Here's a huge Utah opal tiffany cab, one of the rarest of the exotic stones. This particular designer cab shows outstanding purples and mauves. It's a thick stone, beautiful both in orientation and execution. Not flat, but a designer shape, weighing 125 cts. I've border wrapped it in multiple strands of sterling silver and added my signature topper. This stone is not for sale. The pendant measures 3" from top of bail and is 1 1/2" wide.
Note: Utah opal tiffany stone is one of the most beautiful and unusual stones in the world, and one of the most scarce. This stone comes only from one very small area in the Western deserts of Utah, the Brush Wellman beryllium mine. The area is not open to the public for collecting and very little of this material sees anything other than the ore crusher which extracts a very small percentage of beryllium to use in missile nose cones. Tiffany stone, sometimes called Bertrandite, purple opal or ice cream opalite, is composed of predominantly Opalized fluorite (blues, purples and whites), often with many other minerals such as agate, dolomite, rhodonite, manganese oxide and beryllium. It often has a "crackled" appearance.Because of its scarcity, tiffany stone is extremely expensive as well as rare.
