Bands of white and nearly black for an interesting pattern on this 55mm Brazilian agate. It is very thick and I used seven lengths of 20 ga. sterling silver wire to border wrap it, then let my fancy take flight as I twisted and curled the ends into a topper with small "claws." Wear this and you'll be sure to be noticed! Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself. The stone measures 2" in diameter.
Note: Agate is a form of chalcedony, often banded, that comes in an amazing variety of colors. It forms by filling a cavity in a host rock. Although agate is found all over the world, the most exceptional specimens come from Southern Brazil and Northern Uruguay. Brazilian agate is mined from eroded lava beds in the Brazil plateaus. This agate displays a rainbow of colors primarily derived from iron. The colors are usually reds, browns end yellows in multi-layered bands and plumes. Intricate whorls and eye patterns also identify this gemstone. Agates have long been thought to cure everything from emotional pain to insomnia.
Enjoy this unique piece of hand-crafted jewelry.
