This breathtaking stone with its shades of blue, green and white was cut and polished by a friend in my lapidary club. I've border-wrapped it in sterling silver and added a swirl as its single embellishment. Treat someone special to this one-of-a-kind gift or buy it for yourself. The pendant is 2 3/8" high and 1 3/8" wide at the base.
Note: Malachite’s color is derived from copper, and it is usually found in opaque green masses. Its crystals are too fine for faceting; it’s generally polished and cut in cabochon form to show off the interesting banding. Malachite is found worldwide, however, Zaire is the major producer. Malachite and Azurite are both simple Copper carbonates. Azurite occurs as a secondary mineral in the oxidized zones of copper deposits, whereas Malachite occurs as an alteration product in the oxidized zones of copper deposits.
Enjoy this unique piece of hand-crafted jewelry.
