Here's a lovely small tiffany stone in a range of lavenders. I've kept the wrap simple--five strands of sterling silver square wire with as little design as possible to detract from the stone. A simple tailored topper completes this beauty. The pendant measures 1 7/8" from top of bail and is 1" wide.
Note: Utah opal tiffany stone is one of the most beautiful and unusual stones in the world, and one of the most scarce. This stone comes only from one very small area in the Western deserts of Utah, the Brush Wellman beryllium mine. The area is not open to the public for collecting and very little of this material sees anything other than the ore crusher which extracts a very small percentage of beryllium to use in missile nose cones. Tiffany stone, sometimes called Bertrandite, purple opal or ice cream opalite, is composed of predominantly Opalized fluorite (blues, purples and whites), often with many other minerals such as agate, dolomite, rhodonite, manganese oxide and beryllium. It often has a "crackled" appearance.Because of its scarcity, tiffany stone is extremely expensive as well as rare.
