Laguna agate is one of the most highly sought and prized of all banded agates. It is especially known for its extremely tight banding and vibrant colors of reds! These agates are mined in Northern Mexico and are known for their deep vivid colors as well as great fortification. Parallax (otherwise known as shadow) can be found in fine Laguna specimens. The Laguna Agate area is about 150 miles south of the U.S.-Mexican border, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. It is found in several sites on the mountain covering a distance of over 4 miles.
